#Thailand#Phetchaburi#Mueang Phetchaburi#Attraction Wat Yai Suwannaram is considered a third-class royal monastery. It is located in Tha Rab Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phetchaburi. It was renovated during the reign of King Rama V. The temple was built using Ayutthaya architecture. There are drawings of porter, mural paintings of mythical angels the prominent feature is that the paintings are giants and monsters have man-like faces unlike those with Khon mask. The sermon hall was built with the late Ayutthaya architecture. The walls are made of woods, but due to the wrong approach of restoration, the walls turned red and needed to be plastered with molded lime made with rice paper. This caused damp and moss on the roof. The sermon was originally belonged to Prince Phra Khwan and Suriyenthrathibodi VIII respectively. Later on, the greatest restoration occured and conducted by the Supreme Patriarch (Tangmo). The gates were exquisitely crafted and has historical value which is the late Ayutthaya artistry. There are several cuts on the gates presumed to take place during Tangmo’s conduction (Phra Suwanmunee), the Supreme Patriarch believed to be the spirit of Prince Phra Khwan, the former owner who was executed by Tangmo.
